Our 3- to 5-day residential Disaster Recovery and Community Resilience Seminars bring volunteer groups directly to American communities affected by natural disaster. Led by expert construction supervisors and experiential educators, teams learn essential rebuilding skills while investigating the pivotal ethical questions the work demands.

Program Components:

  • On-Site Construction: Muck and gut, demolition, drywall installation, subflooring, painting, and community resilience preparation.

  • Human Encounter: Build relationships with volunteers, local partners, homeowners, or emergency management professionals at the center of community resilience efforts

  • Ethical Inquiry: Daily text-based discussions ranging from traditional havruta study to campfire conversations.

  • Logistics: Housing in communal barracks (alternative lodging available as required), all meals and ground transportation provided.
