Orev Disaster Initiative
A Jewish Lens on Disaster Recovery
Action
Meets
Inquiry
Orev is a Jewish disaster recovery initiative.
We convene volunteers for hands-on rebuilding, community partnership, and ethical inquiry in regions recovering from natural disasters.
What We Do
Orev mobilizes volunteer teams to rebuild storm-affected communities in partnership with local stakeholders. We approach disaster response holistically, pairing physical labor with a deep interrogation of the complex dilemmas that arise in long-term recovery work.
We see worksites as classrooms
where direct service is the text that illuminates the Jewish wisdom tradition as a guide to human encounter across difference.
